MEET STEVE ENRIGHT · YOUR TRAINER

A lifetime of building.
A passion for teaching.

With more than 100 campervan conversions to his name, Steve knows the craft and knows how to teach it.

Steve began his coachbuilding apprenticeship in 1980. His career took him from vehicle body construction to luxury minibus and ambulance conversions, before 15 years teaching at a local college.

With City & Guilds qualifications and a degree in teaching and learning, he brings both the craft and the ability to teach it. He founded Peak Campervan Training in 2017, combining industry experience with his passion for Volkswagen campervans.

Since then, learners have travelled from across the UK and Europe. Some have gone on to start conversion businesses of their own.

From the first step to the finished build, get to grips with campervan conversion.

Follow the full conversion process together, from a standard van to a campervan. Steve provides the training van, and you work as a small group, usually around four or five people, with his guidance throughout. You do not need to bring your own van.

    MONDAY

    Meet, plan & prepare

    Get to know Steve and the group. Walk through the conversion blueprint, plan the layout and prepare the training van for the work ahead.

    TUESDAY

    Make room up top

    Work through the pop-top roof stage with Steve, from measuring and preparation to understanding the fitting process. See how careful planning shapes a sound conversion.

    Approach the bigger jobs with confidence.
  3. 03DAY 3
    WEDNESDAY

    Build the interior

    Learn how the inside of the van comes together. Work through insulation, lining and flooring, preparing a practical, comfortable space for the furniture.

    Create a solid foundation for the fit-out.
  4. 04DAY 4
    THURSDAY

    Fit out the living space

    Bring the campervan layout to life with the kitchen and rock-and-roll bed. Understand how the furniture, storage and sleeping space work together.

    Turn an empty van into a space to live.
  5. 05DAY 5
    FRIDAY

    Finish, review & look ahead

    Work through the finishing details and review the conversion as a whole. Revisit the steps, ask questions and discuss how to apply the blueprint to your own van.

    Leave with a clear route into your own build.

Our workshop is in Hope Valley, surrounded by the hills and open countryside of the Peak District. It’s a welcoming setting to learn a new craft, talk vans and get inspired for your own adventures.

Stay locally and take time to enjoy the area after the tools are put away. There are inns, hotels and campsites nearby, so you can choose a base that suits you.

Bringing your campervan or tent?

There are campsites nearby too. Laneside Caravan Park in Hope offers pitches for tents, campervans and touring vehicles. Hardhurst Farm on Parsons Lane is another local option.

What does the course cover?

The course follows a consistent conversion blueprint, taking a standard van through to a campervan. The group learns on Steve’s van, covering stages including the pop-top roof, interior preparation, kitchen and rock-and-roll bed. Explore the five-day journey.

Do I need to bring my own van?

No. Steve provides the training van, and the group works through its conversion together. The aim is to give you the skills and confidence to convert your own campervan after the course.

How many people are on the course?

You learn in a small group, usually around four or five people. Ask Steve to confirm the group size for your chosen week.

Do I need previous experience?

Tell Steve about your experience and plans before booking so he can explain what to expect and how the course will help with your own project.

Where can I stay during the course?

Three nearby options for your course week:

  1. The Travellers Rest: approximately 0.3 miles by road; Brough Lane Head, Hope Valley.
  2. Bike & Boot Peak District: approximately 1.0 mile by road; Hope Road, Bamford.
  3. The Old Hall Hotel: approximately 1.1 miles by road; Market Place, Hope.

Prefer a campsite? Laneside Caravan Park (approximately 0.7 mile by road) in Hope welcomes tents, campervans and touring vehicles. Hardhurst Farm is on Parsons Lane, approximately 0.2 mile by road. Check seasonal opening and availability directly before booking.

Accommodation is booked separately and isn’t included in the course fee.

Is lunch included?

Yes, lunch is included in the course price. Let Steve know about any dietary requirements when you enquire.

How do I book a place?

Choose a course date and contact Steve by WhatsApp, phone or email. The course costs £1,500 per person, including lunch. Steve will confirm availability and the booking arrangements.
